Description: This is a very exquisite gilt-silver wine ewer of Tang Dynasty (618-907). It is believed that the first female ruler Wu Zetian (武則天) of early Tang Dynasty made this silver wine ewer in the shape of a phoenix with a dragon handle.The dragon represents the Emperor and phoenix represents Empress. In this silver container, the front is a phoenix and the rear is a dragon meaning the Empress is the ruler. This wine ewer was of special importance in that period signifying Wu Zetian was the most powerful Empress.
