French wax portrait of Princesse de Lamballe

18th century

Attributed to Marie Groshoz, later known as Madame Tussaud, a bust portrait in an oval frame, the back inscribed Mad Pr de Lamballe; thought to have been done while Princesse de Lamballe was in the prison of La Force, for her friend Marie Antoinette. Formerly in the Collection of Edith Parsons Morgan, New York , the Rev. Glenn Tilley Morse Collection and the Mrs. Retha Sales Collection according to labels verso.
