Description: Georges duval de leyrit (1717-1764) employé de la Compagnie française des Indes, gouverneur de Pondichéry. 2 L.S., et une L.S. de son prédécesseur Charles Godeheu, Pondichéry 1755, aux syndics et directeurs de la Compagnie des Indes, à Paris ; 28 pages in-fol., dont un cahier lié d'un ruban bleu.
Sur la situation à Pondichéry et en Inde après le départ de Dupleix et avant l'arrivée de Lally-Tolendal.
7 janvier (lettre en partie chiffrée et traduite dans l'interligne). Charles Godeheu renvoie les syndics et directeurs au « Comité secret » pour le détail du traité provisoire qu'il a signé avec Saunders [gouverneur anglais de Madras], puis fait part de sa décision de prendre sa retraite ; il évoque les mauvaises affaires dues au défaut de crédit et de marchandises et aux « depenses prodigieuses que la guerre nous occasionne »... Il leur portera « l'affaire de M. Law telle que M. Dupleix me l'a remise » et tâchera de leur donner des éclaircissements sur les fonds « qui paroissent existants sur les livres »... 5 octobre. Duval de Leyrit dresse un état des lieux : les plaintes sur « la disette des fonds » ne sont pas sans fondement. Dupleix a marqué à la Compagnie qu'elle était déchargée des frais de la guerre, mais Leyrit trouve les revenus de la province d'Arcate insuffisants pour leurs dépenses, malgré leur réduction depuis la trève, et il déconseille de toucher aux appointements de campagne des officiers tant qu'on n'est pas assuré de la paix... Il a fait relever un bastion, mais il leur faudrait encore des magasins, des casernes, etc. Il parle de plusieurs employés de la Compagnie, des Maldives en révolution que Dupleix a secourues, et se félicite de sa garnison de quelque 1500 hommes. Cependant il conviendrait que la Compagnie fît passer ici un corps de vieilles troupes aguerries : « Les nôtres ont du feu et de l'ardeur, mais elle ne tiennent point pour peu qu'elles trouvent de résistance. Le désordre s'y met et il n'est plus possible de les rallier. On en a fait ces derniers tems de tristes expériences »... Le Roi d'Angleterre a fait autant... Il est encore question de petites guerres indigènes dans la région de Négrailles où les Anglais se sont établis, et du dessein des Anglais de s'emparer du Pégu... 6 octobre. Le départ de la Diane est retardé ; Leyrit en profite pour transmettre un paquet de Pigot, gouverneur de Madras, adressé aux directeurs de la Compagnie d'Angleterre...
On joint un dossier de 8 pièces certifiées conformes par des greffiers des Conseils de Pondichéry ou de Chandernagor : extraits de lettres ou de registres du greffe de Chandernagor relatifs à Alexandre de L'Église, employé de la Compagnie que l'on souhaite éloigner de la colonie, 1755-1759 ; plus une liste de mouvements de bateaux entre les îles de France et de Bourbon et Pondichéry, 1755.

Payment: By exemption, clause 14 from law from the 10th of July 2000 stipulates: «Should the buyer fail to pay the amount due, and after notice to pay has been given by S.V.V. LE BRECH & ASSOCIES to the buyer without success, the lot is re-offered for sale at the seller's request, under the French procedure known as "procédure de folle enchère"(crazy bid). If the seller does not make this request within two months from the date of the sale, the sale will be automatically cancelled, without prejudice to any damages owed by the defaulting buyer».

If the buyer fails to pay the hammer price and fees, a formal notice will be sent to him buyer by certified mail with acknowledgement of receipt. Unless payment is received within 10 days following the reception of this formal notice, additional fees of 10% on the hammer price, with a minimum of €250, will be applied in order to cover the recovery expenses. Enforcement of this stipulation does not prevent from granting financial damages and at the expense of the procedure that it would require, and does not prejudge a potential crazy bid may be carried out.
