More About this Item

Description: 1 January 1921 34 HERAULT. BEZIERS. Part de Fondateur. brown, green, lilac. #2400. No 1300. Formed by the owners of the Hôtel de la Paix, in Béziers, to open a café beside the hotel. The site, on the Allées Paul-Riquet, was near the railway station and tramway centre. The hotel/café building was demolished some years ago, and the site is now occupied by a branch of Monoprix. One of the most striking of French shares, with its great art-déco female figure, holding a glass of wine. The café appears to the right. The superb design is by Pourmon fils, who, unfortunately, has left little mark in art history.
