This lovely botanical engraving is from Gottlob Friedrich Hayne's
Getreue Darstellung und Beschreibung der in der Arzneykunde gebräuchlichen Gewächse, wie auch solcher, welche mit ihnen verwechselt werden können.. The work was publishe din Berlin between 1805 and 1837 by auf Kosten des Verfassers (& Nicolai'sche Buchhandlung).
Each engraving features original hand-coloring and are on laid, watermarked paper. The work was considered one of the finest German works on medicinal plants. Hayne (1763-1832) was a German botanist and pharmacist. Hayne published a few works, but this is considered his best and most important.
