London: Printed for W. Baynes and Son, 1825. 8vo. [22,5x14,5cm]. 19th century half leather with title labels in red and green. Title, xliv, 540 + Title, 606 + Title, 642 + Title, 586 + Title, 622 + Title, 536pp.

 

Each volume with folding map bound before title leaf:

I: Italiacum Insulis et Regionibus Finitimis.

II: Map of the environs of ancient Rome.

III: Plan of the principal hills and buildings of ancient Rome.

IV: Germania, Dacia, Moesia, Illyricum, Pannonia, Rhætia et Noricum.

V: Orbis Romani Pars Occidentalis.

VI: Orbis Romani Pars Orientalis.

Very light rubbing to exterior. Slight occasional foxing. Else a tight and attractive set.

 

Nathaniel Hooke [1687-1763], English historian. His history of the Roman Empire was first published in 4 volumes, 1738-1771.
