Impressive, large-scale nude of Bernhard Heisig's master student Hubertus Giebe; similar works of Giebe have sold for up to 8,500 euros in the international market
The present oil painting is the work of the Dresden artist Hubertus Giebe, and dates from 1999. Executed in Giebe's typical expressive style of painting, this large-scale work shows a female nude in pink-red coloring. This range is varied only in the background and in the lighted areas. The unusual coloring and the life-size format of the sitter make this nude painting a striking eye-catcher. Also, the sitter's posture - provocative and reserved at the same time - gives this composition a fascinating visual effect.
The painting is signed and dated upper left, 'Giebe 99', as well as inscribed 'Giebe' on the stretcher. Verso there is an exhibition note from the gallery Hühn, Gevelsberg, from the year 2000. The painting is in very good condition with only minimal wear. The black wood frame is also in good condition, showing a few small nicks. The overall dimensions with frame are 182 x 81 cm. The stretcher measures 175 x 75 cm.
