Notes

Cast in 1970 in 4 numbered copies plus one artist's proof (épreuve d'artiste) by the artist's wife, Valentine Prax, and the Galerie d'Eendt, Amsterdam, after the ebony sculpture by Ossip Zadkine of 1948. As evidenced by her letter of the 21st August 1970, Valentine Prax authorized the cast defining the conditions upon which the sculptures should be made as well as the amount of copies. Lecombre: the date '49' was put on the sculptures erroneously, since the ebony model was already exhibited in Amsterdam in 1948. The artist's proof of the edition is in the collection of the Musée Zadkine, Paris.
