This unusual vase is distinguished as a fine lost wax cast. The inscription indicates that it is, exceptionally, a unique casting. It would seem probable that it was made for a specific commission, possibly for an industrialist; the neck of the vase bears an unmistakable resemblance to a factory chimney.
