Description
Two young Herdsmen with Cattle by a Farm signed and dated 'JDRijk/Fc 1825' black chalk, pen and brown ink, grey wash, watermark letters device 259 x 407 mm. NOTES De Rijk was active in his native town Hilversum, and is known to have travelled to Belgium and Bentheim just over the German border. The present drawing is a good example of his main subject, cattle. A comparable drawing is in the Amsterdams Historisch Museum.
