DESCRIPTION: Katharine Hood McCormick (American, 1882-1960). White-line color woodcut. Valley Forge. Titled and signed "Katharine H. McCormick imp" in pencil to lower margin. Katharine Hood McCormick was one of the original members of "The Philadelphia Ten", a group of women artists who held sixty-five exhibitions beginning on February 17, 1917 and continuing until 1945. The white-line woodcut is the first woodblock printmaking technique unique to the United States. Developed in Provincetown, Massachusetts in 1915 by artist J.O Nordfeldt, a member of the Provincetown Printers, the technique is also called a Provincetown Print. MEASUREMENTS: 9-1/4" x 12". Overall with frame 14-3/4" x 17-3/4". CONDITION: Mild uniform toning. Remnants of tape from previous matting.

All property is sold "as is", and neither the auctioneer nor any consignor makes any warranties or representation of any kind or nature with respect to the property, and in no event shall they be responsible for the correctness, nor deemed to have made any representation or warranty, or description, genuineness, authorship, attribution, provenance, period, culture, source, origin, or condition of the property and no statement made at the sale, or in the bill of sale, or invoice or elsewhere shall be deemed such a warranty of representation or an assumption of liability. If any dispute arises after the sale, our sale record is conclusive. Although in our discretion we will execute absentee bids or online bids as a convenience to clients who are not present at auctions, we are not responsible for any errors or omissions in connection therewith.

For buyers attending the live auction, all merchandise purchased must be paid for and removed from the premises the day of the auction, no exceptions. For live auction purchases, Cordier Antiques & Auctions accepts cash, pre-approved personal checks and business checks as payment.

All purchases are subject to 6% Pennsylvania state sales tax unless the purchaser possesses a Pennsylvania sales tax exemption number. Exemption numbers from other states are accepted if presented with a business card or letterhead.
