SIGNATURE, Date, & Sentiment On A 3 1/2X4 1/2 Card, of Kermit Roosevelt. SIGNATURE, date & sentiment On A Card Approximately 3 Inches high by 5 Inches wide. Boldly Signed: "WITH BEST REGARDS/KERMIT ROOSEVELT/6 MARCH 1940."
KERMIT ROOSEVELT (1889-1943) was an American businessman, soldier, explorer, and writer. A son of President Theodore Roosevelt, Kermit graduated from Harvard College, served in both World Wars (with both the British and American Armies), and explored two continents with his father. He fought a lifelong battle with depression and died by suicide while serving in the US Army in during WWII. The second son of Theodore Roosevelt, (1858â1919). As a child, he had little resistance to illness and infection, but he had a flair for language, however, and read avidly. He showed a talent for writing that led to recording his experiences in WWI in a book. He and his father (recently out of office as president)âboth of whom loved nature and outdoor sportsâwent on a one year expedition in Africa. Kermit Roosevelt became active in wildlife conservation organizations. He also accompanied his father on expeditions to Africa & Brazil. He served with distinction in both the British & American Armies in WWI & WWII."
