This beautifully hand-colored engraving is from Bernard-Germain-Etienne, comte de Lacepede's
Oeuvres Du Comte De Lacepede. The work was published in Paris by Ladrange and Verdiere between 1826 and 1834. The work was edited by M. A. G. Desmarest.
Lacepede was a noble naturalist, survivor of the French revolution, and collaborator of noted publisher Buffon. This work is considered a continuation Buffon's
Histoire Naturelle.
