Description: 16 June 1857 New Ordinary Share of £25. black. No 230. Large format. This line, in north-east England, was opened in 1854, to bring iron-ore from North Yorkshire to the furnaces of Teesside. In 1858 it was merged into the Stockton and Darlington Railway, and later the North Eastern Railway. Guisborough lostits rail service in 1964. Fine engraved vignette of a train and the town of Guisborough, with blast-furnaces in the distance. Corner-cut cancelled, as are all examples seen. Rare & attractive.
