More About this Item

Description: 1 November 1862 NORDRHEIN-WESTFALEN. AACHEN. 1 Action de F100. green, black. #9000. No 2320. Some brown spots. Mining started in Eilendorf (today part of Aachen) in the 14th century. The first company operating in Eilendorf was the "Eschweiler Bergwerks vereins EBV", the leading mining company in the Aachen region for almost 2 centuries. In Eilendorf they exploited the coal mine named 'Grube Atsch' from 1845 onwards. Whether this French company operated this mine from 1862 onwards or a different mine in the same town is not known by us. The company was founded by Louis-Prosper Grillon (at first under the name Grillon & Co) and he has hand-signed the share as "Gérant".
