Description: Pre-Columbian, northern Peru, Moche IV, ca. 500 to 600 CE. A bichrome pottery stirrup vessel depicting a seated elderly woman with a rather somber grimace presenting pursed lips, almond-shaped eyes, and a naturalistic nose, a cap-like coiffure with two neat braids falling down her back, an amputated left arm, her body nude except for a white waist wrap. The stirrup joins her head to waist. An interesting depiction of an elderly, handicapped woman. Size: 7.25" L x 4.5" W x 6.25" H (18.4 cm x 11.4 cm x 15.9 cm)
