Lot 64: Norman Price Illustration Study Portfolio

Collection of pencil illustrations of uniforms, interior architectural scenes, period costumes and other object studies. Price studied at the Ontario School of Art, Goldsmith's Institute in London, and at the Academie Julian with Jean-Paul Laurens, Benjamin Constant and Richard Miller. Well known for his attention to detail and costume accuracy, Price became favorable amongst magazine editors and consumers, having works published in American Magazine, Cosmopolitan, Liberty, St. Nicholas, and Women’s Home Companion. Aside from his ventures in commercial magazine illustrations, Price favored works that required prior research, creating images for Shakespearean books and historical novels.
