More About this Item

Description: 1 January 1790 69 RHONE. LYON. Action de 500 livres. black. No 438. A little foxing. The company was formed to build a bridge across the Rhône, just south of its confluence with the Saône. This bridge, now rebuilt wider and stronger of course, is the main bridge on the auto route south from the city. The company had already received two loans, one from the city of Genova, and the other from the King of France. Dividends on the shares were to be paid from the tolls collected on the bridge. One of the great classics of French 18th century scripophily.
