Description: In-8 (164 x 98 mm). Plats et dos gouachés, dorés et vernissés sur fond rouge ; plats ornés d'un encadrement de palmettes, au centre dans un cartouche noir, armoiries multicolores ; dos plat orné d'un décor doré à la cathédrale ; gardes de moire rouge, tranches dorées ( Reliure de l'époque). Sous emboîtage toilé moderne.
Charnières fragiles, en partie fendues, papier bruni.

Précieuse et rare reliure dite reliure au vernis sans odeur. Ce type de décor singulier, pratiqué à partir de 1730 par les frères Martin qui en avaient obtenu le brevet d'invention, continua à se pratiquer au XIXe siècle.
Celle-ci provient de la bibliothèque du roi Louis-Philippe : elle est la seule connue possédant un décor armorié, ici les armes constitutionnelles du roi (la Charte de 1830) accolées à celles de la reine Marie-Amélie. Le dos est orné d'un décor architectural néogothique inspiré des illustrations polychromes du volume.
