Secession. 1910.Monumental grandeur and aggressive perspective create a riveting impression in this Jettmar poster for a Secession showing being held in conjunction with the vernal equinox. The artist also created the poster for the twenty-seventh Secession exhibition in 1906 (see Denscher, p. 51). After extensive artistic studies in Vienna, Leipzig and Dresden, Jettmar became an active member of the Viennese Secession from 1898 until 1920, regularly displaying his works at their exhibitions. Between 1898 and 1903, he was also an active contributor to "Ver sacrum." From 1910 to 1936 training, Jettmar held a variety of positions at the academy in Vienna before becoming the director of a master school for painting in 1924.
