Septimus Dawson (1851-1914)Several More Miles to TravelOil on canvas, 44.5 x 34cm (17½ x 13¼)Signed and dated (18)'85Septimus Dawson was born in Sunderland, Durham to apparently Irish parents. He is known to have visited and painted here in Ireland on a number of occasions. He specialised in depicting rustic types and genres similar to those painted by Erskine Nicol.

The Commission
