Description: Pre-Columbian, Peru, Chancay culture, ca. 1200 to 1400 CE. Small hollow mold-made pottery figure with obvious female characteristics and hands spread wide. Pottery from the Chancay culture is often found in the cemeteries of the Ancon and Chancay valleys; the Chancay produced large quantities of funerary ceramics in specialized workshops. These figures are often placed in male and female pairs, perhaps as guardians of tombs. Size: 4.75" W x 6.75" H (12.1 cm x 17.1 cm)
