More About this Item

Description: WENTWORTH, Thomas, Earl of Strafford. A Briefe and Perfect Relation, of the Answeres and Replies of Thomas Earle of Strafford; to the Articles exhibited against him by the House of Commons on the thirteenth of Aprill, An. Dom. 1641, London, 1647, small quarto, the 1st of three Wing printings - R 68, modern half blue morocco on marbled boards, early inscription on title page. The first publication of even an abbreviated version (over 100 pages) of Strafford’s vigorous but ultimately unsuccessful defence against the Bill of Attainder which led to his execution. “S.
