Description

WILDE, Oscar (1854-1900). A House of Pomegranates, London: James R. Osgood McIlvaine & Co., 1899. Small 4° (213 x 169mm). Woodcut title, 4 plates, numerous illustrations after Charles Shannon and Charles Rickett. (First gathering starting to detach, thumb-soiling mainly at beginning, light spotting.) Original pictorial boards, printed in red and gilt (soiled, rear endpaper detached, spine chipped, some wear along joints, label removed from foot of spine). FIRST EDITION. Mason 347.

RODD, James Rennell. Rose Leaf and Apple Leaf, with an introduction by Oscar Wilde, Philadelphia: J.M. Stoddart & Co, 1882. Small 8° (178 x 122mm). Half title, title in red and black, 4 wood-engraved plates, illustrations, one full-page. (Margins light and evenly browned.) Original cloth, title stamped in red and front cover (sides and spine lightly browned). FIRST EDITION. The first English edition was nut published until 1905.

With 2 other of Oscar Wilde's Portrait of Mr. W.H. (one copy one of 200 copies privately printed; the other New York, 1921), and James Rennell Rodd's Rose Leaf and Apple Leaf... with an introduction by Oscar Wilde (Philadelphia, 1882). (4)
