Provenance: Estate of Diek Nijland, daughter of the translator
B.M. (Diek) Nijland, the former wife of architect Piet Elling (whom she met for the first time at Rietveld's house), was the daughter of Jonkvrouw Maria Gijsberta van der Meer de Walcheren, the translator. The latter proposed an illustrated edition as early as 1938, but because of the war and Van der Leck's perfectionism the book wasn't published until 1942. Good copy of this remarkable production entirely designed by Bart van der Leck. With a small but ravishing woodcut. Unrecorded.
