Description: Germany, 1914 to 1918 CE. An iron trench axe from the first World War, with an axe blade and pick axe around a rectangular socket. This item was created to be used by the German Wehrmacht sappers, who had some of the most difficult jobs in the war; many were former miners, drafted from those jobs, to dig tunnels towards the enemy's frontline using these distinctive tools. Size: 9.5" L x 2.5" H (24.1 cm x 6.4 cm)
