Gucci Necklaces & Pendants

The iconic Gucci necklaces are a meld of iconic motifs and innovation. Mixing materials to update their classic designs, Gucci necklaces offer subtle reminders of the origins of the brand in Italy in the early 20th century.

Aiming to provide the pinnacle of fine leather goods, Guccio Gucci first opened his shop in Florence in 1921. His success grew exponentially, and by the 1930s he was already recognized as one of the best leather ware designers in the country. The design house’s continued acclaim led it to eventually grow into new markets, including that of jewelry.

Though updated for a 21st-century clientele, Gucci necklaces nevertheless continue to stay true to their original design elements, with the “Horsebit” and double-G motifs referenced throughout their jewelry collection.

Quick Facts

  • In the late 1940s, Gucci introduced the “Bamboo Bag,” a saddlebag-shaped purse that sported handles crafted of the eponymous material. The bag is recognized today as a landmark in the story of Gucci’s rise to acclaim. Gucci’s necklace line celebrates that initial success by incorporating the bamboo motif in some of their styles
  • Gucci managed the brand until his death, when his sons adopted the business in the 1950s. The brothers expanded Gucci’s presence beyond Italy by opening up boutiques in select locations across Europe and the United States
  • In addition to Horsebit and Bamboo pendants, the Dog Tag necklace, typically stamped with the Gucci name, is also a quintessential motif of the brand
