InterMountain Model Railroads & Trains

The Intermountain Railway Company has operated out of Longmont, Colorado since 1988. They offer a variety of model railroad products in HO, N, and Z scales. Intermountain carries freight car kits made with injection molded plastic parts as well as ready to run stock.

Intermountain offers one of the smallest model railroad scales available, Z scale. Z scale, which is 1:220 scale, runs on 6.5 mm track. It was invented by the Marklin Company of Germany in 1972 and has become a viable model railroad scale among hobbyists. Z scale layouts are often put on coffee tables and in display cases. The actual running capability of Z scale is debated by hobbyists, as Z scale locomotives and cars tend to be fragile due to their small size and may incur problems when running.

Intermountain is currently rapidly expanding its product lines and offers reservations for new products every month. A wide variety of locomotives and freight cars have been offered in recent months. These models have a high level of detail and are favorably rated by hobbyists who work in HO scale.
