Ruger Single-Action Revolvers
Revolver Categories
Ruger is an abnormality in the revolver world. They produce their own designs of single-action revolvers, but did not design them in the days of the Old West when single action ruled. Ruger was founded in 1949, well after single action fell out of favor.
Ruger’s single-action revolvers are largely based on Colt designs, but are improved in a variety of ways. Ruger revolvers are known for their overall strength, accuracy, and reliability. Ruger has produced six different lines of revolvers and continues to produce five of them.
Ruger produces the Bearcat, Blackhawk, Super Blackhawk, Vaquero, Single Six, and the discontinued Old Army. These revolvers fill a variety of roles including plinking, target shooting, hunting, and competition. Ruger revolvers are well made and produced in a wide variety of calibers.
