Springfield Armory Pistols

Springfield Armory produced many of the single-shot carbines and muskets used by forces during the Civil War, which were copied by every armory in Europe. Springfield went on to manufacture the M1 Garand, the first standard-issue semi-automatic military rifle.

But the company has done more than produce long guns. Along with Colt, Springfield supplied M1911 semi-automatic pistols to the U.S. government in the years leading up to World War I. The gunmaker's expansion into handguns didn't stop there. The M1911 became the standard on which its custom shop's fabrications were built, leading to Springfield Armory's Professional Model being one of only two guns to pass Federal Bureau of Investigation handgun trials for Hostage Rescue and SWAT teams.

Now, with the XD Series of pistols in a range of calibers and customized handguns with every conceivable spec, Springfield's reputation for quality and innovation has lived on. Springfield Armory is a recognized leader in the development of sidearms for the law enforcement, paramilitary, commercial, and sporting markets.
