Women's Ebel Watches

Ebel was founded in 1911 in La Chaux-de-Fonds by husband and wife, Eugène Blum and Alice Lévy. The company continued under the direction of successive family members, and in 1971, it was grandson Pierre-Alain who reluctantly took over the company when it threatened to go under. Inheriting his grandmother’s eye for design and his grandfather’s business acumen, he introduced attractive new watches for men under a new brand identity – The Architects of Time.

Honoring founder Alice Lèvy’s jewelry design expertise and the heritage of the brand, the Ebel women’s collections have focused on combining Haute Joaillerie with watch-making expertise. The signature wave design of the Sports Classic came out in 2001 and continues to be updated to this day.

The Gems of the Ocean and Beluga Tonneau collections for women first appeared in 2002; the Gems of the Night and Tarawa collections were introduced in 2003; 2006 saw the Brasilia collection, with a more youthful and vibrant look and in 2012 came the Onde and X1 collections, re-interpretations of this timeless brand.

• Alice Lévy had a great eye for “haute joaillerie” design and in 1914 won a gold medal at the National Exhibition in Bern for her patented ring watch, which featured a hidden time-setting and lever escapement within the movement
• During the World War II, Ebel won the contract to supply watches for use by the British Royal Air Force
