Royal Doulton

Royal Doulton produced tableware and collectibles starting in 1815, originally operating in London. Though a latecomer compared to other similar companies such as Wedgewood and Royal Crown Derby, its reputation managed to grow and it is still recognized as one of the top producers of fine giftware, porcelain, glassware, and collectibles.

First named Watts & Doulton, the company started as a partnership between John Doulton, Martha Jones, and John Watts with a factory in London. The company changed partners several times over the following years, and by 1890, had 350 modelers and designers employed.

At the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, Doulton products won acclaim, furthering its popularity. In 2005, Waterford Wedgwood completed a £39.9 million takeover of Royal Doulton.
